Long Island Termite Inspections
Termite inspections are one of the most important inspections when purchasing a home. It’s so important that most lending institutions require a termite inspection to determine whether there is damage from termites or other wood-destroying pests. The damage, not always obvious on the exterior or interior of a structure, can range into the thousands of dollars on any given structure and hundreds of millions of dollars across the country. It’s very important to determine if a property contains an active infestation or structural damage. If so, the lending institution will require the property to be appropriately repaired or remediated and treated by a licensed termite company such as ours.
As Suffolk and Nassau County-area reputable, licensed and professional home inspectors, we can’t overstate the importance of a reliable home termite inspection. Our company, Home Inspector Experts, provides an array of home inspection services meaning that our termite inspectors are among the most experienced and skilled in the home inspection field. This serves as an advantage to our customers during a termite inspection. We are also certified by the industry organization ASHI (American Society of Home Inspectors).

What to Expect:
A termite inspection report should contain the following:
– Whether an infestation or any evidence of a wood-destroying organism was found along with the severity and where on the structure it’s located.
– What measures are required to eradicate the infestation if one is found. The report should detail remediation measures necessary to address and repair the damage.
– Is there any evidence of a previous infestation? Sometimes, inspectors will find evidence of a previously remediated infestation and will note this on their report and whether the remediation was sufficient and appropriate.
– Whether or not there is a renewable guarantee with the termite company.
– Any other pertinent information uncovered during the inspection.
The answers to the certification are only obtained through a thorough inspection conducted by a licensed professional. They will need to have full access to all parts of the property, and you can expect them to look carefully at every room and space inside the structure. They should check everything from bedrooms, closets, toilets to floors, etc. They will also inspect the substructure areas such as basements or crawl spaces and attics. During their inspection they search for any evidence or signs of wood-destroying organisms, moisture, and moisture-damaged wood. (Moisture tends to attract wood-destroying organisms.)
